WE NEED A SEAT AT THE FEDERAL TABLE SO WE CAN BRING TO OTTAWA THE ISSUES THAT MATTER TO ALBERTANS.
Diversity and Inclusion
In light of the finding of remains of Indigenous children at various residential schools across Canada, the murder of a Muslim family in Ontario and the brutal attack on Muslim women here in Edmonton as well as the discrimination that our LGBTQ2S+ community face every day, it’s so important to call out hate and racism and make it very clear that it has no place in Canada. Diversity is the fabric of our country and what makes our communities richer and more dynamic.
Mental Health and Youth Supports
This pandemic had been incredibly hard on most Canadians and that especially holds true for our youth. They have had to give up so much and it has taken a big toll on them. I was honoured to tour the Bridge in Fort Saskatchewan which offers mental health and other supports to youth and young adults. Now more than ever we need to invest in mental health programs.
Caring for Our Seniors
My grandmother lived in a long-term care facility in Sherwood Park for the last 6½ years of her life. While she received excellent care, this pandemic has shown that has not been the experience of many seniors, and we need to put greater protections in place at LTC homes across Canada to ensure that our seniors are protected, valued and treated with the respect and dignity they deserve.
